DGAUM Poster Award 2025
At the 65th Annual Scientific Meeting of the German Academy of Sciences (DGAUM), Christian Kersch’s poster won second place. In his work, he investigated the effects of combined exposure to benzo[a]pyrene and UV radiation on skin immunometabolism compared to single exposure. He combined metabolomic studies with toxicological assays. Glutamine, the central metabolite, was regulated by the combined exposure. Glutamine is an important starting metabolite for energy metabolism, purine synthesis, and oxidative defense. The single exposures, in contrast, had little effect on the metabolic pathways.
